I woke up in my bed in the hotel's staff quarters. I'm a chef at one of Lausanne's best hotels and have been working here for about two years now. The work can be demanding but it's rewarding to see happy customers enjoying their meals.
After getting dressed, I headed down to the kitchen where I started prepping for lunch service. My sous chef was already there, going over the menu with me. We're a small team of eight in total and everyone knows their role inside out.
As we were finishing up our prep work, my boss came in to give us some last minute instructions before the doors open. We have a large group of twenty-year-olds coming in for lunch and he's made sure to seat them near the window so they can enjoy the view of the city while they eat.
The crowd is growing as we're getting closer to the start of service and I'm excited to see what today brings. With a final glance at my watch, I grab my hat and coat before joining my team in the dining room where we'll be serving our guests. The anticipation builds up inside me as I make my way through the door to greet the customers.
Inside the dining room, it's bustling with activity. The guests are all seated and chatting amongst themselves while the staff takes their positions at their respective stations. As the chef de cuisine, I stand near the table of twenty-year-olds, checking on them every now and then while making sure everything runs smoothly in
