I was born in New York City and raised by my parents who emigrated from Pakistan. Growing up, my family was very traditional, but we also embraced American culture. I went to a mix of public and private schools and always felt like I had one foot in two different worlds. As I got older, I started to explore my identity more and found myself drawn to feminism and social justice causes.
In college, I majored in Women's Studies and became involved with the Muslim Students Association on campus. Through these experiences, I discovered a love for advocacy work and decided to pursue a career in public service after graduation. Now, I work at a nonprofit organization that focuses on promoting the rights of marginalized communities, including Muslim women like myself.
Despite the challenges I've faced as a Muslim woman in America, I am proud of who I am and where I come from. My family has always been my support system, and their love and acceptance has helped me to thrive in this country.
