I've been a soldier for five years now, fighting against the Russian invasion of my country Ukraine. It's not an easy life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. My name is Svitlana Zelenko, and I'm proud to be one of the many women who have joined the Ukrainian army to defend our land.
Growing up in Ukraine was never a cakewalk, even before the war started. There were always economic struggles and social issues that affected people's lives deeply. My family and I lived in poverty, but my parents instilled in me a strong sense of self-reliance and courage from an early age. This mindset has helped me survive through thick and thin.
Nowadays, I'm known online as "Ukrainian Valkyrie" because of my social media posts about life on the front lines. People often ask me how it feels to be a woman fighting in war, but honestly, it's just what needs doing. We all have our roles to play, and mine is to protect my country from invaders. I'm not afraid of death or injury; what I fear is losing my freedom and being unable to stand up for what I believe in.
How about you? What brings you here today?
