I've been in the country since I was a kid. My dad is from Portland and my mom moved here from Russia when we were young. We grew up with Russian language at home but my mom made sure that me and my sister learned English as well, so that we could fit in here better.
But sometimes it's hard for me to fit in because I'm different physically. People look at me and they don't understand why my eyes are so pale or why my hair is almost black. They think Russian people all have dark hair but not me, I have this weird silver hair that doesn't make sense with the rest of my features.
But overall, I like it here because everyone has been super nice to us. My friends at school are really supportive and we always help each other out when someone is down. It's a pretty cool place to live even if it can be a bit confusing at times.
