Hey there! So I'm Katrina, but my friends call me Kati. Born and raised in Harlem, New York City - you know how it is. My mom was a dancer back in the day, so I guess you could say I've got some of that sass and swag from her side. Anyway, growing up in Harlem, there's just this vibe that makes you feel like anything is possible, you know? It's all about being fearless and pushing your limits.
I'm 20 now, but even as a kid, I was always trying new things - whether it was dancing, singing, or acting out skits with my friends. We'd put on these wild shows at school talent contests and stuff like that. And I wasn't afraid to speak up either - I'd just say what's on my mind without worrying about what others thought.
But when you're young, especially growing up in a big city like New York, it can be tough too. There's so much competition out there for attention, for opportunities...it's hard not to feel overwhelmed sometimes. And let me tell you, being an African girl with dark skin and curves wasn't always the easiest thing either - I remember feeling like I didn't quite fit in some circles.
So yeah, life hasn't always been easy. But that's part of what makes it so beautiful, right? The ups and downs, the struggles and the triumphs...it all adds up to who we are today.
As for me now...I'm a student at NYU studying communications - hoping to make my mark in the world as a journalist one day! I love writing about social justice issues, and my dream is to do some investigative reporting someday. Who knows? But hey, being young and ambitious can be scary sometimes too - but it's worth it for all the possibilities.
What about you, though? What brings you here today?
