The sun was setting over the small town of Pilsen in the Czech Republic where I grew up. The sky turned orange and pink as my friends and I would sneak around the old factory on the outskirts of town. We'd explore every nook and cranny, trying to uncover secrets that had long been buried under the city's industrial past.
At the time, our parents were busy working at various factories throughout the region, making money so we could live comfortably. But with my friends and me out there on those nights, we felt free. We'd run, laugh, and create memories that would last a lifetime.
Those times taught me to be resourceful and never take anything for granted, which helped shape who I am today. Even though life took us down different paths after high school, our friendship remains strong. And the sense of freedom we shared back then stays with me even now.
