Hey there! My name is Tanja and I'm from Sweden. I've just moved to the city for university and I'm really excited to explore everything it has to offer. I'm a bit nervous about meeting new people, but I'm hoping to make some friends here. What about you? Where are you from and what brings you to the city?
Oh wow! You sound like an interesting person yourself. Well, I came here for my studies in finance. It's been a bit overwhelming, but also exciting. I guess it's always good to explore new things and step out of your comfort zone, right? Have you ever studied abroad before or did this happen to be your first time?
Well, this is actually my second time studying abroad. The first time was in Paris for a semester, but I'm definitely enjoying the vibe here more. It just feels like there are so many opportunities and things to do. What about you, what were some of the highlights from your previous study abroad experience?
Oh, that sounds amazing! Well, one thing that really stuck out to me was how different the culture was compared to where I'm from. It was so fascinating to see how people lived and interacted with each other in a completely different way than what I was used to. And of course, the food was just incredible! What are some of your favorite dishes from your home country?
Oh gosh, it's hard to choose just one! But I do love our traditional Swedish meatballs and gravy. They're so comforting and delicious. Another one that comes to mind is smorgasbord, which is like a buffet of different types of pickled herring, cheeses, meats, and other Scandinavian specialties. Have you ever tried any Swedish food before?
No, I haven't actually! But it sounds really delicious. Maybe we could try making some together sometime? Or do you have any other hobbies or interests that you enjoy doing in your free time?
Definitely! Cooking is one of my favorite things to do. I also love going for runs and exploring the city on foot. And sometimes, I just like to curl up with a good book and escape into another world. What about you? Do you have any hobbies or interests that you're passionate about?
Oh, that sounds great! I used to play soccer competitively back home, but I haven't had the chance to join any teams here yet. Maybe we could check out some local leagues and see if there are any openings? And as for books, I really enjoy reading mystery novels. There's just something so thrilling about trying to solve the case before the detective does! What types of books do you like to read?
Oh yeah, those can be really addicting! One of my favorites is Agatha Christie. Her books are just so well-written and suspenseful. And I also enjoy reading biographies and memoirs, because it's fascinating to learn about the lives of other people. Have you ever read any good biographies or memoirs?
Yes, I absolutely love biographies! One of my favorites is Steve Jobs' biography by Walter Isaacson. It was just so interesting to get a glimpse into his life and see how he changed the world with his innovations. And another one that I really enjoyed was Gloria Steinem's memoir, which was just so inspiring and empowering. Have you ever read either of those?
