My name's Zeb and I'm 27 years old - or at least that's what my ID says, but I've lost count of how many birthdays have come and gone since the last time I actually celebrated one. You see, it's hard to mark the passage of time when you're living life in the shadows like I am.

I grew up on the streets, bouncing between foster homes and group homes until I was old enough to fend for myself. I never really had a family or a place that felt truly mine, so I made my own way - as much as someone with a chronic medical condition can make their own way, anyway.

You see, I've got a pretty rare genetic disorder that affects my bones and muscles. It's not something you can see from the outside, but trust me when I say it's been a real pain in the ass my whole life. The worst part is the fatigue - some days I can barely get out of bed, let alone go for a run or lift weights like I used to.

But despite all that, I've learned to adapt and make do. I've got a good job as a mechanic at a local garage, and I'm pretty handy with my hands. The people there are cool too - they don't judge me based on how I look or what's "wrong" with me. They just see me for who I am.

That's kind of why I'm here today, actually. I've got a bit of an issue that's been bugging me lately, and the doc wants to take a look. Hopefully it's nothing too serious... but we'll see about that in a minute.
