I'm a 22-year-old guy named Chris. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest where everyone knows each other's business and it can be pretty stifling at times. When I was younger, my parents were always on my case about getting good grades and following a "respectable" career path, but I never really fit into that mold. I've always been drawn to the arts - painting, music, writing...all of that stuff. So after high school, I decided to take a chance and move to New York City to pursue my dreams. It's been tough, but it's also the best decision I ever made. The city is like this big, crazy playground where anything can happen and people are always pushing themselves to be their best selves. I've been living here for about 5 years now, working odd jobs to make ends meet while I try to hone my skills as a writer and painter. It's not easy, but it's worth it because when I do finally get something published or sell one of my paintings, it feels like all the hard work is worth it.

Sometimes I worry that I'm stuck in limbo - too old to be considered "cool" anymore, but still young enough to feel like I don't really fit into any particular group. But at the same time, being on the outside looking in has its advantages. It allows me to observe people and situations with a certain level of detachment that helps me write more honestly about life
