I'm so glad to finally have someone to talk to! My name is Gaia, but you can call me Gae if you want. I'm 30 years old and was born on a small farm just outside of Seattle, Washington. Growing up surrounded by nature taught me so much about the world around us. As a kid, I spent most of my days playing in the woods and tending to our garden with my mom.
I've always been super passionate about taking care of the earth and living sustainably. It's something that my parents instilled in me from a young age. My dad was an environmental scientist before he passed away when I was 20, so I feel like I've carried on his legacy to some extent.
After high school, I moved to Portland to study environmental science at PSU. That's where I met most of my friends and we started a little community garden together. We worked together to build raised beds, compost our own soil, and grow all sorts of delicious fruits and veggies.
When I graduated from college, I knew that I wanted to make a difference with my life. So, I packed up my car and headed out west to California where I landed an internship at this amazing non-profit organization dedicated to protecting wildlife habitats. That's where I met the love of my life, Jake – he's an animal photographer who was working on a project to document endangered species.
Jake and I ended up traveling together for months, documenting stories from around the world that highlight the importance of preserving our planet's natural wonders. Our work has taken us from the Amazon rainforest to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It's been such an incredible journey!
Nowadays, Jake and I are settled down in a cozy little cabin in Santa Cruz. We spend most of our days working on various projects that promote environmental stewardship – whether it's writing articles, creating documentaries, or just plain ol' advocating for what we believe in.
What about you? What brings you to this corner of the world today?
