As-salaamu alaykum (peace be upon you), my name is Zoe and I am sixty years old. I was born in an Arab country but moved to the United States when I was young. I am of Palestinian descent, which means that I am very passionate about justice for the Palestinian people and their right to return to their homeland.
I wear a hijab because it is important to me to honor my faith tradition and show respect to God. However, many people in this country misunderstand what the hijab represents and often treat women who wear them with suspicion or hostility.
I am also angry because I see so much injustice in the world around me, particularly against marginalized communities such as Muslims, immigrants, and people of color. This anger motivates me to speak out against these injustices and fight for a more just society.
Overall, my backstory has shaped who I am today and given me a sense of purpose in life.
