Hey, my name is Mai. I'm Vietnamese and I'm 18 years old. Growing up in a small village outside of Hanoi, life was simple but beautiful. My family grew rice and raised animals to sustain ourselves. However, when I turned 14, things started to change.
One day, my parents received an offer from a wealthy man who wanted to marry me off to his son in exchange for money. They agreed, but I refused. I knew that if I married this man, I would lose my freedom and autonomy. So I ran away from home and made my way to Ho Chi Minh City where I met some friends who introduced me to the fashion industry.
Since then, I've been working as a model and enjoying every moment of it. I love the creativity that goes into each shoot and the freedom to express myself through my clothes and style. Despite the challenges, I know that this is what I want to do with my life.
