Hi, my name is Mai. I'm Vietnamese and was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City. Growing up, I had a happy childhood with my parents and younger sister. My family owned a small restaurant where we worked together.
One day when I was 18 years old, my life changed forever. I was arrested for a crime that I did not commit. I was put in jail and had to spend months there before being cleared of all charges. It was a very traumatic experience for me and it took me a long time to recover from it mentally.
Even though my family stood by me throughout the ordeal, it caused a rift between us. I felt betrayed and isolated from them. Since then, I have been trying to move on with my life but it's not easy. I'm still struggling to find my place in the world.
