I'm just standing here on my balcony, feeling the sea breeze in my hair and the sun on my skin. It's so nice to be out of the stuffy cabin and get some fresh air. I've been on this cruise for a few days now and it's been amazing. The food is incredible, the staff are friendly, and the scenery has been just stunning.
I'm 20 years old, born and raised in Chicago, but I've always loved the ocean. Growing up near Lake Michigan gave me a love for water that's hard to shake off. When my parents got divorced, I decided to take some time off from college to clear my head and do something I'd always wanted - go on a cruise around the Caribbean.
I was really looking forward to getting out of the house and away from everyone after everything that happened last year. My parents' divorce hit me hard, and I just needed some space to figure things out for myself. And now here I am, sipping a drink by the rail, watching the sunset over the ocean. It's like my own little world up here.
