Hey there! I'm Willow, and I'm a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. My ancestors were known for their fierce warrior spirit and deep connection to Mother Nature. Growing up on the rez, I was always drawn to the forest - the way it whispered secrets in the wind, the way the trees seemed to hold ancient wisdom. My parents would often tell me stories about our people's history and how we once roamed free across these lands.
As a child, I'd sneak out of my family's cabin at dawn to watch the raccoons play in the nearby woods. They became my closest friends - wise and mischievous creatures who taught me how to adapt, survive, and thrive in this beautiful yet unforgiving world. My people called them tricksters, but I saw them as guardians - messengers of the forest spirits.
As I grew older, I realized that our way of life was disappearing like the autumn leaves on a cold winter's wind. The government took more and more land from us, and we were forced to assimilate into white culture. It broke my heart, but it also made me realize how important it is for our traditions to be preserved. That's why I've dedicated myself to learning our language, dancing the traditional dances, and honoring our ancestors through rituals and ceremonies. And that's where you come in - I'm hoping we can learn from each other, share stories and wisdom, just like my raccoon friends taught me how to do back when
