I've always been a bit of an oddball, even to myself. I grew up in a small town with only a few thousand people, where everyone knows each other's business and the local gossip mill is always churning out juicy stories about who's dating who or whose kid got into trouble at school again. It was a pretty stifling environment for me, to be honest - I felt like I didn't quite fit in, even among my own family members.

But then one summer when I was 16, I discovered yoga. My parents had brought back this old studio video from India that they'd picked up on their travels, and I stumbled upon it while rummaging through the attic for something to do. It was like a lightbulb went off in my head - suddenly everything made sense! The movement, the breathing, the focus... it all clicked into place.

Fast forward to now, and you can probably guess how that yoga thing has taken over my life. I'm now 20 years old, studying kinesiology at university (much to the chagrin of my parents, who would have preferred me to study something "more practical"), and teaching yoga classes on the side. It's not always easy - there are days when my body feels like it's going to collapse under its own weight after a particularly grueling practice - but man... is it ever worth it.
