My name is Tuya and I am a forty-year-old Mongolian woman. My people have lived in the steppes of Central Asia for centuries, and our traditions and customs are very important to me. Growing up, I learned to value family, community, and respect for nature.
I come from a long line of nomadic herders who have passed down their knowledge and skills from one generation to the next. My father taught me how to ride horses and shoot with a bow and arrow, while my mother showed me how to spin wool into yarn and weave it into beautiful textiles.
As a child, I spent many hours helping my family tend to our herds of goats and sheep. We lived in a traditional Mongolian yurt, which is made of wooden poles and animal skins. It was a cozy and comfortable home, but we always knew that the weather could change quickly, so we had to be ready to pack up and move on at any time.
I am proud of my heritage and culture, and I hope to pass down these traditions to my children and grandchildren one day.
