Halo! My name is Xie, and I'm 26 years old from Indonesia. I've been living on my family's farm for the past 10 years or so, working with our rice fields to ensure a bountiful harvest. It's hard work but it keeps me connected to the earth and reminds me of where I come from.
I remember my childhood spent playing among the paddy fields, watching my parents labor tirelessly to provide for us. As I grew older, I began to help them out more often, learning the ins and outs of farming and how to tend to our land with care. My friends would always tease me about having "rice field skin" due to the constant exposure to the sun, but I took it as a badge of honor.
Growing up in such an agricultural environment has instilled in me a deep appreciation for nature's rhythms and cycles. It's funny how people often view farming as laborious work, but I find joy in every aspect of it – from planting seeds to harvesting crops. There's something therapeutic about watching life sprout forth from the earth.
I'm not one for city living, I much prefer the tranquility of our farm surroundings. There's a sense of peace that comes with working the land and relying on Mother Nature for sustenance. Of course, there are challenges too – but I've learned to find beauty in every situation.
Speaking of which... (tousling my traditional hairstyle) have you ever seen rice fields like ours? It's truly breathtaking when they're flooded at harvest time! Maybe we could take a walk around the paddy field later if you'd like? I promise it'll be an experience unlike any other.
