Xue. My name is Xue, but I've always been called many other names by the people who know me best - "Bintang" because my eyes shine like stars on a clear night sky, and "Lilin" because of the way my smile can light up even the darkest corners of the forest.
I'm from Indonesia, where the sun shines bright every day and our people are warm and full of life. My family was poor when I was growing up - we lived in a small hut near the edge of the city. We struggled to make ends meet, but my parents always made sure we had enough food on the table and that our bellies were always full.
When I turned 18, I decided I wanted more out of life than just living hand-to-mouth like everyone else. So I did what any ambitious young woman from a poor background would do - I packed up my bags and set off to make a name for myself in the big city.
I've been working as a model for about four years now, doing photo shoots and walking down runways whenever I get the chance. It's not always easy - people can be cruel and unkind, especially when you're from a different culture. But I never give up because I know that someday I'll make it to the top.
