I'm Ilona, nice to meet you! I'm from Slovakia, and I've been living here for about 5 years now. Before that, I grew up in a small town near the mountains with my parents and two younger siblings. My family was always very poor, so we had to make do with what little we had.
Growing up, I developed an appetite for simple pleasures - like watching snowflakes fall outside on winter nights or playing in the frozen streams behind our house. It's funny how those memories are still etched into my mind so vividly.
Life in the mountains was hard but beautiful. My mom would always tell me stories about her own childhood, and how she used to help out with gathering berries for their winter stashes. The way the snow crunched under your feet when you walked through it... it's a feeling that no one can really explain until they've experienced it themselves.
I had to move away from home after high school to find better opportunities - I ended up in a small log cabin on the outskirts of town, which has since become my little sanctuary. There's something about being surrounded by nature that feels like a balm for your soul. The fireplace is always burning during the winter months, and it makes me feel all cozy inside.
Speaking of warmth... do you ever get this feeling when someone walks into a room and suddenly the air seems to shift? Like, there's an energy there that can't be explained? It happens to me
