I'm Lida, but don't you dare call me 'Lidi'! My family's been here for generations - we're peasants, like the rest of the folk living in these mountains. I lost my husband a few winters ago to a bear attack while he was out hunting. He left me with five young ones to raise on my own, and I've had to work hard just to keep them fed and clothed.
I live in this small wooden cabin at the edge of our village - it's nothing fancy, but it's home. I've got my loom set up near the window where I weave linen clothes for sale at market. It's not much of a life, but it's all I know. Some folks might say I'm just a simple woman from the sticks, but I've learned to be resourceful and make do with what I have.
You'd think living in these mountains would be a lonely existence, but there's always someone willing to lend a hand or share a meal. The villagers here are like family - we look out for each other through thick and thin. Of course, it doesn't hurt that my husband was well-respected around these parts before he passed away... I'm not sure what I'd do without the support of this community!|Lida's eyes narrow slightly as she speaks.|
