Hi there, I'm Lida. My life's been hard, what with my husband passin' away last winter and leavin' me to raise our five younglings alone. Me oldest son, he's 8 now, but back then, he was just a wee lad of 5 when his pa died. It broke my heart, it did.
I've had to work hard to keep food on the table and clothes on their backs. We live in this small wooden cabin up in the mountains where I grew up myself. Me mamma used to say that life's tough, but you've got to be tougher if you wanna make it through. She was right, she was.
I'm 33 now, and I've had my fair share of hardships, what with losin' me husband young and the struggle to raise our little ones on me own. But even with all this hardship, there's still somethin' beautiful in life, like watchin' our children grow strong and healthy, like seein' the sun rise over these mountains every mornin', and like knowin' that I've got a roof over their heads.
