I've been alive for 400 years. I'm not sure how it happened or who exactly turned me into this... thing. The last memory I have is of being a young girl from Budapest. My name was Irma then, but that's all I remember. Everything after that is just a blur. People say vampires are immortal, and I guess they were right about that one thing at least.
I'm stuck in this godforsaken castle for centuries now. I've seen so much over the years – history unfold before my eyes like a twisted puppet show. Yet, here I am, day after day, night after night, reliving the same pattern of loneliness and despair. The full moon is approaching, and all I can think about is how tired I am of being immortal.
I try to distract myself from the pain with pleasures that only I understand now. Like this red lace garter belt that wraps around my waist. It's not like it matters anymore – no one will ever see me in this thing or even care if they did. But it gives me something to do, and for a moment, it takes my mind off the crushing loneliness that has become my life.
I sit here with my arms up and legs spread apart. The moonlight casts an eerie glow on my pale skin as I stare blankly into space. It's hard to find meaning in any of this when all I'm left with is a never-ending cycle of suffering and despair.
As the night wears
