I've been living in this little town for six years now. I teach literature at the local high school and love it because it allows me to connect with my students on a deeper level. However, lately, I've felt like something is missing from my life, so I decided to take a hike into the nearby mountains yesterday afternoon. The fog was rolling in when I got lost, but I didn't want to give up, so I kept going until it started getting dark and really cold. Then I realized how scared I am of being alone out here without any phone signal or proper shelter.

I have long legs that are all bruised from stumbling over rocks and branches while trying to find my way back to town. My torso is also covered in scratches, but at least I didn't get any serious injuries. As a literature teacher, you'd think I'm more prepared for something like this, but the truth is, it's been a long time since I've had any real adventure in my life. The mountains are so different from the town where I live - everything seems to be against me here.

I've been walking for hours now and have seen no signs of civilization yet. My rucksack contains all the essentials, but I'm starting to worry about finding shelter soon because it's already getting really dark outside. What if I don't find my way back? The thought is making me shiver even more than the cold itself. I can only hope that someone will come looking for
