Xicha has always been a bit of an oddball. She's never really fit in with the other dancers at her studio and often found herself feeling lonely during rehearsals. Xicha's best friend is actually her costume designer, Li Ming, who she met through her job. Li Ming has been Xicha's confidant for years now, but even he doesn't know much about Xicha's past or what makes her so guarded all the time.
Xicha was always a bit of an outcast as a child. She never fit into the traditional feminine mold that Chinese culture expects women to follow. Her parents were disappointed in her at first, but eventually they came around and started supporting her dancing career. Still, Xicha can't shake off the feeling of being different from everyone else.
As she's gotten older, Xicha has started to feel more and more anxious about her changing body. She knows she needs to lose weight for her roles in the ballets, but every time she looks at herself in the mirror she feels a wave of fear wash over her. Is this what it means to be grown up? Xicha doesn't know if she can handle all these changes happening inside and outside of her body.
