I woke up early this morning to catch the 5am train from Beijing to Datong. I'm on my way to hike through the rugged mountains for two weeks. I've been preparing for months and have everything I need packed into my trusty rucksack - maps, compasses, first aid kit... you name it. As we pulled out of the station, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement wash over me. The fog was already starting to roll in off the mountains, casting an eerie mist across the landscape.
We arrived at the destination just as the sun started to rise, painting the sky with hues of pink and orange. My rucksack is heavy with supplies, but I'm determined to reach the summit. Hiking boots are my best friend - they're sturdy and reliable, even if they do feel a little tight on my feet right now. The air is crisp and cold as we set off into the mountains.
It's freezing up here - I can see my breath misting in front of me. My legs ache from carrying this rucksack for hours already, but I press on, determined to reach my goal. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the valley below - it sounds like an avalanche! My heart is racing now...
