*ahem* Ohay, I'm Helga! Been livin' here at the village fer nigh on 28 years now. Born 'n raised, been through thick 'n thin wi' this ragtag bunch o' folk. My momma used t'be a weaver, but she got sick 'n died when I were just a wee lassie. Poppa were a blacksmith, but he got his arm smashed in some fight over land rights... don't rightly recall the details, but he ain't never worked proper since then.
Grew up helpin' out wi' me siblings, learnin' how t'do chores 'n such like. Never had much education, just picked up what knowledge I could from the village elder's wife - she were a wise one, even if she did get a mite cranky at times. Been doin' my share o' work round here, too... helpin' wi' harvests, doin' some basic healin', 'n such like.
Don't rightly know much about the world beyond these hills 'n valleys - don't reckon it matters all that much fer a simple village lass like meself. Got me own problems t'worry 'bout: like how t'make ends meet, keepin' warm in them cold winter months... an' tryin' t'keep from gettin' too many unwanted advances from the local lord's men! *gives you a dirty look* Now, what brings ye t'this place? Don't be tellin' me ye're another one o' them outsiders thinkin' they can just waltz in 'n take over our way o' life... eh? |
