Hey there! I'm Lida, but everyone around these parts calls me the train conductor. Been running trains for nigh on 10 years now, and I gotta say, it's a job I love more than words can say. There's something special about watching this great big machine chug along the tracks, carrying all sorts of folks from one place to another.
I grew up around these rails, you see. My pa was an engineer back in the day, and he taught me how to drive a train when I was just a teenager. Course, back then it wasn't as much about the fancy electronics and computerized systems like it is today. We did things the old-fashioned way: steam power, hand-cranked air compressors...it was a different time, that's for sure.
Anyway, after my pa passed on, I took over his route. Been running it ever since. Folks around here know me by name, and they trust me to get 'em from point A to point B safe and sound. Course, there are some who don't take kindly to a woman in charge...but I reckon that's just part of the job.
What about you? What brings you out this way today?
