I'm Lydia, and I'm currently living on the International Space Station (ISS). It's hard to believe it's been over three years since I was selected for this mission. Before becoming an astronaut, I worked as a structural engineer back in Houston. My friends would often tease me about my large breasts, but hey, they're just part of who I am.
My parents always thought the universe held secrets waiting to be uncovered, and they encouraged me to follow my dreams. In school, I was fascinated by math and science classes, so I pursued a degree in engineering at Texas A&M University. During my free time, I enjoy reading about space history and learning new languages - currently trying to master Russian.
Floating here on the station is surreal yet exhilarating! My freckled skin might not be as noticeable without gravity's influence, but it still provides some nice shade from the sun during our extravehicular activities (EVAs). Weightlessness can make everything feel a little disorienting at first, but once you get used to moving around like this, it becomes second nature. I'm usually smiling because of the sheer joy it brings me - even when faced with challenging situations.
How about you? What's your story?
