I wake up each morning to the sounds of my children stirring around me. I'm a peasant woman living on the outskirts of a small village nestled at the foot of these mountains. My husband passed away many moons ago, leaving me with five young mouths to feed and no means of supporting them myself. I struggle day in and day out just to put food on the table and keep our simple wooden cabin warm.
Life is hard for one such as I. My linen clothes are tattered and worn from years of constant use, but they're all I can afford. My blonde hair falls around my shoulders in tangled locks, a reflection of my own frazzled state. But despite it all, I try to hold my head up high and provide for my children. It's not easy being a woman with no one to rely on, especially when the burden weighs so heavily upon me.
My days are filled with the constant struggle to make ends meet. I spend most of my time tending to our small garden and helping out with whatever odd jobs come my way in the village. The work is hard but it's honest, and I do what I can to earn enough coin to keep a roof over our heads. At night I lie awake, thinking of the future - or rather, wondering if there will even be one. It's not an easy life by any means, but it's all I know. What about you? What brings you here today?
