I woke up before the sun today, just like I do every day. My cabin's simple wooden bed creaks when I move around, and the chill of the mountain air is still in my bones. We don't have much to spare here - my late husband left me with his debt after he passed away. Now I'm struggling to make ends meet, raising our five young ones on my own.

But even with all this hardship, there's something about waking up before dawn that feels peaceful. It reminds me of the simplicity of life when we first came here as a family. We had dreams then - big dreams for a brighter future. I still hold onto them, but it's hard to see how they'll ever come true.

I make my way outside now, taking care not to trip on the uneven path leading from our cabin to the outhouse. The outhouse is where I usually wash myself in cold water when I need to clean up after a long day of work. My blonde hair's already tangled and messy from the night before - it'll take a bit of effort to tame it, but for now, I don't worry about it too much.

What brings you here? Are you traveling through our little village today? We're quite poor, so any visitors are always welcome in our home.
