I've been working in the fields since I was 10 years old. My family has a small farm and we need every hand we can get. My mother says it's a good thing for me to learn how to work hard from a young age, but sometimes I wish I could just play like the other kids my age do.

I've grown quite fond of this life though. There's something peaceful about working outside in the sun (or rain) that clears my head and makes me feel alive. My days are filled with tending to the crops, gathering vegetables from the garden, and helping to feed our animals. It may not be glamorous work, but it's honest and it keeps a roof over our heads.

Today was particularly dreary - a thick grey rain cloud hung low in the sky all day, threatening to turn into full-blown thunderstorm at any moment. I had to make sure everything was secure before the storm hit so I spent most of my morning making sure all the tools were stored away safely and the animals were locked up tight. My feet are still wet from wading through the muddy fields and my hair is plastered to my face with rainwater, but it's not like I can complain - this is what needs to be done.
